WGAS Joke of the Day
Wally Wine
Wal-Mart announced on June 8, 2006, that it will
begin offering customers a new discount item, Wal-Mart's own brand of wine.
The world's largest retail chain is teaming up
with Ernest & Julio Gallo
Winery of California and the world-renowned Farm
of Boones, to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the $1-$3
range.
Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to put a
bottle of the Wal-Mart brand into their shopping carts, but "there is a market
for inexpensive wine," said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at
University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.
As a spokesman for Gallo she said the company has long
searched for an avenue for properly marketing its
less well known products.
Micken said, "The right name is important."
Customer surveys were conducted by Wal-Mart to determine the most attractive name
for the Wal-Mart wine brand.
The top surveyed names in order of popularity were:
11. Merlot Haggard
10. Chateau Traileur Parc
9. White Trashfindel
8. Big Red Gulp
7. World Championship Riesling
6. NAS CARbernet
5. Chef Boyardeaux
4. Peanut Noir
3. I Can't Believe its Not Vinegar!
2. Grape Expectations
1. Nasti Spumante
Of Horable Mention, a wine that is what it is: Kay
Shiraz-Shiraz The beauty of the Wal-Mart brand of wine, she
said, is that it can be served with either white meat (Possum) or red meat
(Squirrel); or it can be mixed with beer to create what some call
"wife-beater red"
Look for it on store shelves or in the bed of
pickup trucks.

WGAS Joke of the Day
A married businessman meets a beautiful girl and agrees to spend the night with her for $500. He spends the night with her but, before he leaves, he tells her that he does not have any cash with him, but he will have his secretary write a check and mail it to her, calling the payment "RENT FOR APARTMENT."
On the way to the office, he regrets what he has done, realizing that the whole event was not worth the price. So he has his secretary send a check for $250 and enclosed the following typed note:
Dear Madam:
Enclosed you will find a check in the amount of $250 for rent of your apartment. I am not sending the amount agreed upon because, when I rented the apartment, I was under the impression
that: 1. It has never been occupied.
2. There was plenty of heat.
3. It was small enough to make me feel cozy and at home.
However, I found out that it had been previously occupied, that there wasn't any heat, and that it was entirely too large.
Upon receipt of the note, the girl immediately returned the check for $250 with the following note:
Dear Sir:
First of all, I cannot understand how you expect a beautiful apartment to remain unoccupied indefinitely. As for the heat, there is plenty of it, if you know how to turn it on. Regarding the space, the apartment is indeed of regular size but, if you don't have enough furniture to fill it, please don't blame the landlady.
Send the rent in full or we will be forced to contact your present landlady.

WGAS Joke of the Day
An Illinois man left the snow-filled streets of Chicago for a vacation in Florida. His wife was on a business trip and was planning to meet him there the next day.
When he reached his hotel, he decided to send his wife a quick email. Unable to find the scrap of paper on which he had written her email address, he did his best to type it in from memory.
Unfortunately, he missed one letter and his note was directed instead to an elderly preacher's wife, whose husband had passed away only the day before. When the grieving widow checked her email, she took one look at the monitor, let out a piercing scream and fell to the floor in a dead faint. At the sound, her family rushed into the room and saw this note on the screen:
DEAREST WIFE: JUST GOT CHECKED IN. EVERYTHING PREPARED FOR YOUR ARRIVAL TOMORROW.
P.S. SURE IS HOT DOWN HERE.
